Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently completed 100 days of his third term, has taken much-needed steps to improve the security situation in the northeastern state of Manipur. This comes as part of a continuous effort to address the ongoing unrest in the region.
The Home Minister has been actively involved in reviewing the security situation on a regular basis. His active involvement includes monitoring and analyzing the developments and directing appropriate actions to restore peace and stability.
During the ongoing violence and tension in Manipur, the central government has taken proactive measures to strengthen security and ensure the safety of residents. “There was peace in the last three days and I am hopeful that we will be able to control the situation. We are holding talks with both communities. It was ethnic violence and unless there is dialogue between the two communities, no solution could be found,” he said. “We are talking to the Kuki and Meitei groups. We have prepared a roadmap to take different initiatives for the situation in Manipur.” He added.
One of the major actions taken includes the deployment of two battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the state. The CRPF, known for its expertise in handling law and order situations, has been brought in to support the local administration and police in maintaining peace. In addition to the CRPF, around 200 companies of Central Police Forces have also been deployed in Manipur to strengthen the security apparatus.
