₹ 3.62 crore worth of egg puffs in 5 years; TDP accuses Jagan Mohan Reddy of 'egg puff scandal'

Reddy previously faced a similar accusation when he was questioned for building a personal palace on Rushikonda Hill with public funds.

Since The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) took over the command of Andhra Pradesh after defeating the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP in the assembly elections, numerous cases of his excessive spending have being surfaced. The latest data has accused the former government of spending ₹3.62 crore on egg puffs. TDP claimed that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) spent this monstrous amount on egg puffs in the five-year tenure of Jagan Reddy’s government.

Reportedly, the CMO office consumed ₹ 72 lakh worth of egg puffs annually for five years. One egg puff costs ₹20, which means that 18 lakh egg puffs were consumed in the five-year tenure, which takes the single-day average to 1,000. The Chandrababu Naidu-led government called it the egg puff scandal.

The Naidu government has been investigating the irregularities of finances in the Reddy government. While investigating on the misuse of public funds for personal leisure, they found the irregular spending of ₹3.62 crore in egg puffs.

YSRCP Responds to Allegations in the Egg Puff Scandal

Reddy previously faced a similar accusation when he was questioned for building a personal palace on Rushikonda Hill with public funds. He was also questioned for keeping special planes for personal use.

As the media started surfacing this news, Reddy’s YSRCP defended their stance through an X post saying, “How can one tweet such blatant misinformation without any confirmation or evidence? Taking random information from social media and turning it into “news” is a disservice to journalism,” the party further added, “Let’s focus on facts, not fabricated stories.”

The YSRCP further dismissed all these claims, calling them fake propaganda to spoil Reddy’s image. They further claimed that the TDP leader spent ₹8.5 crore on snacks during his tenure between 2014 and 2019. However, TDP has denied all the accusations.

This year’s assembly election in Andhra Pradesh was totally one-sided, where TDP came up victorious against the YSRPC with a humongous margin. TDP won 135 seats, while the YSRCP got only 11.
