WhatsApp adds ‘Favourites’ tab to easily reach your close friends and family

The rollout of the “Favorites” feature began on Tuesday (July 16) and is expected to be accessible to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform used by billions of people worldwide, has unveiled a new feature called “Favorites.” This feature aims to enhance user convenience by allowing quick access to preferred contacts and groups.

The “Favorites” feature enables users to mark specific contacts or groups as favorites. By doing so, users can easily filter out these chats from the rest of their contacts on the chat screen. Whether it’s your family group chat or your best friend, the “favorites” will be the same across both your chats and calls.

How Does It Work?

To add contacts or groups to your favorites list:

  1. From the Chats Screen: Navigate to the chat screen and select the “Favorites” filter. Choose your desired contact or group.
  2. From the Calls Tab: Tap the “Add favorite” option within the calls tab and make your selection.

The designated favorites will consistently appear at the top of both chats and calls, ensuring quick access regardless of the communication mode.

“Focusing on your favourites just got a lot easier on WhatsApp. Starting today, you can quickly find the people and groups that matter most at the top of your calls tab and as a filter for your chats. Whether it’s your family group chat or your best friend, your ‘favourites’ will be the same across your chats and calls, so you can speed dial them from your calls tab too,”  the business stated in a blog post.
The addition of ‘favourites’ is expected to be well accepted, especially by those who connect frequently with a small number of acquaintances. By keeping these contacts easily accessible, one can save time browsing through extensive lists of messages and call logs.

By having frequently contacted individuals readily accessible, users can save time searching through long lists of messages and call logs. This feature is especially beneficial in fast-paced environments where quick communication is essential.
While some users will acquire the feature in the upcoming weeks, others currently have access to it.
