Legendary WWE superstar John Cena announces retirement

He said he will perform at the 2025 Royal Rumble show, the Elimination Chamber event and at last at the WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant stadium, Las Vegas.

John Cena announces retirement plans, arguably one of the greatest World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars in the ring. Cena has stated his intentions to gradually phase out from wrestling matches starting in 2025. During the ‘Money in the Bank’ event in Toronto today, which he surprisingly appeared in, Cena made the shocking revelation, signaling a major shift in the WWE landscape.

The 47-year-old WWE legend entered the ring holding a towel with the modified version of his famous slogan “My time is now” reading ‘The Last Time Is Now,’ sporting a shirt that said ‘John Cena Farewell Tour.’ As Cena was about to speak, the Toronto crowd again chanted, ‘No no no.’Mr. Cena noted that the retirement would not be an instant one but instead, the retirement will take effect in 2025.

He said he will perform at the 2025 Royal Rumble show, the Elimination Chamber event and at last at the WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant stadium, Las Vegas. In this regard, he posted on the WWE website, stating “Tonight, I officially announce my retirement from World Wrestling Entertainment.”

A World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler since 2002, Mr.Cena stands as one of the prominent wrestlers in the wrestling entertainment industry. Some of his noteworthy feuds are with such superstars as The Rock Triple H CM Punk Randy Orton among others.In his speech,Mr. Cena thanked the World Wrestling Entertainment fans and association and said  “Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to play in a house that you guys built for so many years.” He further added “Thank you so much for your voice because it’s really loud and for your honesty because it’s always brutal.”

Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, the WWE Head of creative, shared a brief video clip on Twitter of himself and Cena hugging backstage, captioned “The Greatest of All Time.”

Cena began his wrestling career in the year 2001, and he joined WWE in June 2002 and rose to be among the most decorated and iconic superstars of the Ruthless aggression and PG era’s. Cena transitioned to the WWE part time from 2018 in a similar fashion as ‘The Rock’ to better work on his acting gigs. Some of the Films he has appeared in includes; The Suicide Squad, Fast X, The Independent and many more. However, he has guest appearances, though; even at WrestleMania 40, he came from the stands to assist Cody Rhodes to conquer Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship title.
