Bajaj launches world’s first CNG bike starting at Rs 95,000

Bookings have started in Maharashtra and Gujarat, with plans to roll out across the country by early next quarter.

Bajaj Auto has made history with the introduction of the world’s first CNG Bike, the Bajaj Freedom 125. This hybrid motorcycle, which runs on both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG), is priced at Rs 95,000 for the base NGO4 Drum variant. The mid-tier NGO4 Drum LED is available at Rs 1.05 lakh, and the top-end NGO4 Disc LED comes in at Rs 1.10 lakh. Bookings have started in Maharashtra and Gujarat, with plans to roll out across the country by early next quarter.

The Freedom 125 is powered by a 125cc engine delivering 9.5 hp and 9.7 Nm of peak torque. It features a 2-litre petrol tank and a 2kg CNG tank, offering a combined range of 330 km. Riders can seamlessly switch between petrol and CNG while riding. Bajaj also notes that the bike emits 26 percent less carbon dioxide and 43 percent less nitrogen oxide than standard petrol bikes.

The bike is built on a trellis frame with telescopic front forks and a linked mono-shock rear suspension. The seat height is 825 mm, and the seat is 785 mm long. The top-spec model includes LED headlamps, and all variants come with a reverse LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The Freedom 125 is available in seven color options.

The Bajaj Freedom 125 stands alone in the market with no direct competitors. It serves as an alternative to models like the TVS Raider 125. Initially available in Maharashtra and Gujarat, the bike will be introduced to other states over the next three to four months. The NG04 Disc LED and NGO4 Drum LED variants come in Caribbean Blue, Pewter Grey Black, Ebony Black Grey, Racing Red, and Cyber White. The NGO4 Drum variant is offered in Pewter Grey Yellow and Ebony Black Red.
