She filed a complaint with the Karnataka police, accusing both of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.

NCW’s Investigation and Revelations

The National Commission for Women (NCW) became involved in the case of the complaint against Karnataka MP and discovered that the primary complainant alleged she was coerced into filing a false complaint by individuals posing as police officers. Interestingly, the NCW also found that around 700 women who submitted online complaints were linked to a social activist group and had no direct connection to the primary complainant.

Former Chief Minister and JDS State President H D Kumaraswamy raised concerns about the Special Investigation Team (SIT) responsible for investigating the incident. He accused the SIT of intimidating victims and claimed that they threatened the victims with charges of prostitution unless they provided statements favorable to the Congress government.

As a result of the allegations, Prajwal Revanna, being a prominent political figure as the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, faced suspension from the JD(S). HD Kumaraswamy, while criticizing the ruling Congress government, distanced himself from defending Prajwal Revanna, emphasizing the importance of justice prevailing in the case.

To ensure a fair and unbiased investigation, HD Kumaraswamy’s party, the Janata Dal (Secular), submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka Governor. They requested an impartial probe into the case and urged the governor to recommend the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough inquiry.
