In a shocking incident from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a 20-year-old man named Mujahid claims a non-consensual sex change surgery was performed on him. According to reports, Mujahid alleges that he was sedated and taken to a hospital by a man named Omprakash, where the surgery was performed while he was unconscious.
According to a NDTV report, Mujahid states that Omprakash has been harassing and molesting him for the past two years. On June 3, Omprakash allegedly convinced the doctors at a local medical college in the district named Begrajpur Medical College in Mansoorpur to perform the surgery. “He brought me here, and the next morning I had an operation. When I regained consciousness, I was told that I had been changed from a boy to a girl,” said Mujahid.
He further added, “When I woke up, Omprakash told me that I am a woman now and that he would take me to Lucknow to marry me. He threatened to kill my father if I resisted.” Mujahid claims that the doctors collaborated with Omprakash to carry out the surgery without his consent.
However, contrary to Mujahid’s claims, the doctors at Begrajpur Medical College have denied any wrongdoing. They say that Mujahid underwent the sex reassignment surgery of his own will.
Following the incident, Omprakash was arrested on June 16 after Mujahid’s father filed a complaint. The arrest has sparked widespread outrage in the community. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), a prominent farmers’ organisation, staged a protest outside the medical college. BKU leaders have accused the hospital of being involved in illegal activities, including organ trade and other illicit activities.
Shyam Pal, a farm leader with the BKU, voiced his concerns, saying, “I believe there is a very big racket going on here where they remove vital organs of the body and sell them at a higher price.” The BKU is demanding that the government provide ₹2 crore in compensation to Mujahid for the trauma and violation he has suffered.
The case has drawn significant media and public attention. Activists and community leaders are calling for a thorough investigation into the incident. They stress the need for stringent checks and balances in medical practices to prevent such violations of individual rights.
