Church in Mexico going viral for selling real estate plots in heaven

The Iglesia del Final de los Tiempos is actually a parody page created to mock exploitative pastors, listed under the "Just for Fun" category on Facebook

A church in Mexico has gained attention for its extraordinary offer concerning sales of real estate in heaven. Another church, known as the Iglesia del Final de los Tiempos or the Church of the End of Times, claims that its pastor got approval from God during a one-on-one interview with God in 2017. As said by the pastor, the piece of heaven can be purchased for a hundred dollars per square meter, which nearly costs Rs. 8346.

The pastor seems more like a nefarious real estate agent, telling people of good plots next to his palace with an assuring promise of an assured place in heaven. The virtual pictures of the heavenly home in the sky are now all over the net. Surprisingly, they agree to take any form of payment, including PayPal, Google wallet, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Moreover, they allow for flexible payment options.

The video shows a large, wealthy house shining like gold with a happy four-person family, stating that since 2017, the church has been selling plots in heaven, earning millions. It was first shared on a Facebook page that mainly focuses on sharing comedy content, and the video has since received more than 100,000 views on different social media pages. Still, most viewers could not understand the fact that the video was satire. Many social media users who have TikTok and Instagram accounts, as well as well-known media outlets, shared the information about the bizarre offer of the church, not knowing that it was fake and claiming that the church earned millions of dollars in sales.

The Iglesia del Final de los Tiempos is actually a parody page created to mock exploitative pastors. Listed under the “Just for Fun” category on Facebook, it shares bizarre and humorous content. However, a lot of social media users on X reacted to this video and commented:

One user said, “No, they’re doing it again.” Another commented, “I hope he uses it to buy himself some air conditioners because he’s going to need it where he’s going.” Adding to the comments, a third user said, “Don’t forget to tell them about homeowners insurance for their home in heaven.”

Although this particular case does tickle the bone, in a much more serious matter, a pastor in the United States previously encountered legal trouble for asserting that God directed him to sell cryptocurrency

Pastor Eligio Regalado and his wife Kaitlyn were charged with fraud, with the district attorney stating that the coin was worthless. Between June 2022 and April 2023, the couple received $3.2 million in investments from over 300 people who invested their money despite the couple’s total cluelessness about cryptocurrencies. Reportedly, the proceeds were spent on patronage of their lavish lifestyle rather than for the business, as may have been expected.

In the course of this probe, the pastor told the investors that they could not withdraw their money as there were issues with the cryptocurrency exchange. He reassured the populace that the matter was likely to be solved soon so that investors would be refunded. Regalado also expressed trust in divine action, thus expecting that God will intervene and correct the existing problems that concern the financial part and the lost investment.
