On Monday, an Archaeological Survey of India team discovered a statue of Lord Vishnu in the northeastern section of the “Bhojshala complex” in the Dhar region of Madhya Pradesh.

The sculptures of Lord Krishna, Lord Bholenath, and the seven-faced Lord Basukinathi were allegedly previously removed by the ASI team from the northeastern region of Bhojshala, according to a Hindu petitioner.

The Hindu petitioner Gopal Sharma stated, “The ASI team carried out its survey on the High Court’s orders,” in an interview with the news agency ANI. It was the 95th day of the survey since it was started on March 22. A survey was being carried out in the northeastern region of Bhojshala and in the sanctum sanctorum (garbhgriha) by a team comprising eight officials and thirty-two workers. While the photographic portion of the project got underway today at Garbhagriha, a statue of Lord Vishnu was discovered in the northeastern region of Bhojshala. The statues of Lord Krishna, Lord Bholenath, and the seven-faced Lord Basukinathi were previously discovered by the ASI team. The Lord Vishnu statue has been placed under observation by the ASI team.

Preparations were made to use carbon-dating equipment on March 22 after the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) surveyed the Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex, which is located in Madhya Pradesh’s tribal-dominated Dhar region.

Known as Kamal Maula Mosque by Muslims, this mediaeval edifice is considered by Hindus to be a temple dedicated to Goddess Vagdevi, also known as Saraswati.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Indore bench issued an order on March 11th, instructing the ASI to establish an expert committee tasked with conducting a “scientific investigation, survey, and excavation through the adoption of the latest methods and techniques” and providing a report to the court within a fortnight.

The ASI requested further time for the survey during the April 29 hearing, which was the next hearing on the topic. Additionally, the court gave ASI eight weeks starting on April 29 to complete the survey. The court additionally stated that no more time should be allowed to comply with the March 11 decree.

The court has also ordered the ASI team to deliver the comprehensive report in its entirety by July 2, 2024, at the latest. The matter’s subsequent hearing is set on July 4.

As per the agreement made in 2003, Muslims give namaz on Fridays from 1 to 3 pm, while Hindus do puja at the compound on Tuesdays from sunrise to sunset.
